Why Us
We are proud to be the largest independent theatre organisation in Scotland, running two thriving venues at the heart of the capital’s creative life. We offer an all year round programme of drama, dance, opera, musicals, comedy and family shows, and over 430,000 people pass directly through our doors each year.
The Festival Theatre hosts a number of internationally acclaimed dance productions, operas, musicals and a number of one-off music and comedy gigs. The King's is the only theatre in Edinburgh to welcome major touring dramas with stars such as Sir Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and Lynda Bellingham - and of course, is the venue for Edinburgh’s much-loved pantomime.
Running two large theatres round the year is not cheap. Income from Box Office sales simply isn’t enough on its own for us to maintain our buildings, reach out to new audiences, run a diverse education programme and attract the very highest quality programming. A variety of organisations and individuals choose to invest in our work. Why not join them?
£5 could pay for a schoolchild to make the journey to one of our theatres. £250 could enable a community group to receive a drama workshop. £2,500 could help fund our very popular Theatre Talks programme. Every penny counts! Individuals can play their part by making a donation, joining as a Friend or becoming a Patron. Your company can benefit by being our Business Partner. Or if you are connected to a Trust, you could support us by making a donation to our education programme.
Dedicate a Seat scheme at the King's
As the King's Theatre is being restored, this is your chance to make your mark on one of Edinburgh's best-loved historic buildings. For a donation of £300 (or £500 for a pair) you can dedicate one of the new seats in the newly restored King's with an inscribed plaque.
If you would like to find out more or to arrange your seat dedication, please contact Lucy Clement on 0131 622 8087 or email lucy.clement@eft.co.uk. Alternatively, click here to download an application form and return to: Lucy Clement, Festival Theatre, 13/29 Nicolson Street, Edinburgh, EH8 9FT.
